Real estate fraud!

Real estate fraud
Good story (“Local builder accused of fraud,” May 19). I’m wondering, however, why the U.S. attorney’s office finally decided, after all these years, to get tough with F. Jeffrey Miller.
For years, it appears Miller was seriously cheating low-income people trying to buy homes. And yet, for those victims, it doesn’t seem that government attorneys got heartburn over Miller’s cheatin’ ways.
But now that it appears banks got hurt, the government is ready to come down hard on Miller.
I’m a lawyer and, after 25 years in this business, a bit of a cynic. I’m also writing a book about the depth and breadth of corruption in our country. To me, your story is another example of how government attorneys don’t get worked up when little people get hurt — but only when big business gets hurt.
