Over 200,000 Foreclosed Homes in Michigan (and Counting)

Can Michigan Real Estate Get Any Worst? Will It Get Any Better?

Livonia, MI -- Michigan home foreclosures are at an all time high with no apparent end in sight. There are over 100,000 homes for sale in Wayne County alone, not to mention Monroe County, Washtenaw County, Livingston County, Oakland County, etc.

These homes can be found at http://www.thequickhomefinder.com. The vast majority of homes for sale in Michigan have been foreclosed by banks and finance companies after adjustable rate mortgage payments catapulted over the last 3 years. Because there are so many vacant homes in Michigan, banks are anxious to sell, putting them on the real estate market for prices far below their value. In fact, the costs of homes for sale in Michigan are ranked among the lowest the nation.

Despite this fact, there’s not a lot of buying or selling going on in Michigan right now. Maybe real estate investors, developers and prospective home owners are merely waiting for property value Michigan to drop even further so they can buy a house or land for the lowest price possible. Some Michigan realtors fear that Michigan’s real estate market will never fully recover. There’s a lot of affordable housing available but no one seems to be interested.

According to Ralph Marcus Maupin, a college instructor and real estate expert, “People take more than the price of a house into consideration when their thinking about buying.” He attributes the lack of realty activity to the dilapidated condition of the state. “With jobs cutting back in addition to the high crime rate in some areas, people who are looking to buy a home are thinking twice about settling here.” says Maupin. Nevertheless he is confident that Michigan’s real estate market will recover, just maybe not before the state budget is balanced, the job market is restored and the school districts are repaired.
